The painter and performance artist Yves Klein was a leading member of the Parisian group of artists called “Nouveau Régime”, which he founded with Arman, amongst others. With a wide range of revolutionary ideas and theories he became the most important stimulator of art movements in the 1960s. Yves Klein influenced concept- as well as Body-Art. His monochrome paintings in strong ultramarine brought him world fame and made him the most important representative of the Avant-garde. In exhibitions he created expressive paintings by painting naked women blue and transferring their body prints on to paper panels. Yves Klein died at the young age of 34 years in Paris.
