The painter James Rizzi is an American pop art artist. He was born in Brooklyn and lived in Manhattan. His hometown New York has provided him with many impulses for his creative works. His paintings are simple, colourful, and painted in a childlike style, and radiate a happy, urban metropolitan optimism. His style has led to the epithets “urban primitive artist”, as well as “Hundertwasser of Manhattan”. The radius of his work is vast. Aside from the works created in his atelier, he has painted on houses, planes, locomotives, trams, and cars. He designed special issue stamps for the German Mail and has illustrated cookbooks.
